Your website needs two kinds of ongoing care. Hosting keeps the site available on the internet. Maintenance looks after the software, backups, security and small issues that arise after launch. Arcane Tech’s care plan can work with your existing host, or be bundled with Arcane hosting; moving your website is not automatically required.
What the care plan includes
| Area | What happens |
|---|---|
| WordPress updates | Core, plugin and theme updates are applied on a regular schedule. Major updates are tested before they are applied. |
| Backups and recovery | Automated backups run regularly, with a manual backup before major updates. Restore support is included if a change breaks the site. |
| Security | WordPress hardening, malware scanning and intrusion monitoring help identify problems. Cleanup support is included if a problem gets through. |
| Uptime and performance | Uptime monitoring alerts Arcane Tech when the site becomes unavailable. Regular performance checks and basic optimization help keep it usable. |
| Support and small changes | The plan includes monthly support time for minor text and image changes. Larger work is scoped separately. |
This is ongoing care, not a promise that a website can never go down or be compromised. Monitoring helps problems get noticed; backups give the team a recovery path when something goes wrong.
What happens when a site needs an update?
A routine WordPress update may affect the code that runs your site. Applying it matters for security and compatibility, but an update can also conflict with a theme or another plugin. That is why major updates are tested and a backup is taken before they are applied.
If something breaks, send the page address, what you expected to see, what actually happened and when you first noticed it through the support request form. A screenshot and the exact error text are often more useful than “the website is broken.”
How backups and restores work
A backup is a saved copy used to recover a site after an incident or a failed change. A restore puts saved site data back into the active website. Restoring may replace changes made after the backup was taken, so tell the team about recent orders, forms, edits or other activity before a restore is started.
Automated backups and restore support are part of the care plan. Backup timing, retention and storage depend on your specific setup. Keep your own copy of irreplaceable source files, licensed assets and business records too; a website backup is not a substitute for every business archive.
Small changes versus new projects
Minor text corrections or image swaps can use your plan’s monthly support time. For example, changing the hours on an existing page is a small change. Building a new landing page, redesigning the navigation or adding a custom booking feature is larger work and needs a separate scope and quote.
The distinction is the work involved, not merely the number of words in your request. A short request can still require design or development. Arcane Tech will explain the scope before beginning work outside the plan.
If your website is unavailable
Check the page again on another device or network if you can. Then report the website address, the first time you noticed the issue, and whether the whole site or just one page is affected. You can use the support form even when your website itself is down.
